I chose Carolina Pediatrics of the Triad because of the group of physicians.  Most have been there for several years, and all are excellent.  The administration and support staff are also top notch.  I also think it’s amazing that the practice has been around for almost 100 years.

– Dr. Ben Hooker

Dr. Ben Hooker had the honor of being born right here in Greensboro at Moses Cone Hospital, an experience he shares with our younger patients born at the new Cone Health Women’s and Children’s Center.  He is a (nearly) lifelong resident of North Carolina whose educational path spans the state from mountains to Sandhills.  After graduating from high school in Burlington, NC, he went off to study and play baseball at Davidson College.   Following a brief stint teaching middle school science, he headed off to Boone, NC for graduate school.  After finishing his first Master’s degree, he headed back down the mountain to Chapel Hill for medical school.  He decided to extend medical school by taking an extra year to study Public Health.

Following graduation from UNC, he was off to Greenville, NC for his Residency.  Dr. Hooker began his training in the Family Medicine Program at ECU but soon switched to Pediatrics to complete a Pediatrics Residency as well. Following completion of Residency, and getting married to a Residency classmate, he settled in Greensboro to begin practicing Pediatrics in 2009.  Thirteen years of practice experience in a variety of settings has taught Dr. Hooker the importance of finding a “home base”.  Home base is where the traveler feels comfortable and is surrounded and supported by committed colleagues who work together to care for the children of Greensboro.  For Dr. Hooker, Carolina Pediatrics of the Triad is that home base.

Dr. Hooker lives in Greensboro with his wife and three daughters.  When asked what he likes to do in his spare time, Dr. Hooker replied “During my spare time I like to cook, clean, go grocery shopping, and…  who am I kidding?  With 3 daughters, I like to take naps in my spare time!”

Dr. Hooker is accepting new patients. Interested parents and caregivers should call (336) 574-4280 to schedule an appointment.
